Pre-School Ballet

This class is for the 3 to 5 year olds. This class is great for having fun and developing motor skills. This 30-minute class is designed for students that love being a ballerina. The students will explore their space as they are actively involved in learning basic ballet skills. Ballet terminology is introduced as well as ballet positions, barre work stretches and basic fundamentals.

Pre-School Tap

This class is for ages 3 to 5. A fun filled class emphasizes on coordination and rhythm. Simple shuffles and basic fundamentals done to music specifically designed for pre classes. Students work at the barre and center floor.

Music and Movement

Designed for the 2 to 3 year old joined by their parent or guardian.  Music and movement incorporates creative play through songs and games while teaching technique and the ability to follow directions. Overall emphasis is placed on having fun while learning coordination, balance, rhythm, and musical expression.

Ballet

Through the discipline of ballet technique students improve in grace, strength, coordination, flexibility and fluidity.  Ballet is a necessary component of any dancers training to develop proper technique and muscle control that can be applied to any other form of dance. Classes integrate barre exercises, center floor and choreographed dances.  After progressing in ballet levels, students may be recommended by their teacher to study Pointe. 

Lyrical/Contemporary

Contemporary is an expressive combination of ballet, modern and jazz. Students work on balance, extension, control, strength and flexibility. Dancers portray emotions invoked by the words and music. The use of body and facial expressions is an important aspect of the dance. Freestyle and improvisation are also frequently used within a lyrical class.  Dancers should have a ballet background.

Tap

A truly American dance form from which students learn combinations and syncopated patterns with their feet that focuses on timing, rhythm and coordination. Various styles of tap dancing include classical, close to the floor grounded footwork, acapella work, graded work, Broadway style and Funk.  We do your best to keep pushing the art form forward while teaching and preserving its rich history.

Jazz

Jazz is a contemporary form of dance that focuses on coordination and isolations within the body.  The class is upbeat, fun, and filled with high energy.  The style is usually seen in music videos and on Broadway.  It involves muscle toning, stretching and flexibility. The class consists of warm up, technique, floor combinations and routines. It helps students discover their own sense of internal rhythm, coordination and personal style.

Hip Hop

Hip hop is an exciting form of dance that integrates jazz and street dancing techniques. It includes the hottest dance steps from today’s music videos.  Hip hop improves a dancer’s sense of rhythm and coordination with its transitions from smooth to hard-hitting movements.  We are also adding Lyrical Hip Hop to our schedule.  This focuses on slower and more fluid movements that are very appealing to the audience.

Pom/Tumbling

Pom is a high energy dance style that incorporates Jazz and Hip Hop Styles using pom-poms.  This class will help increase your flexibility and build strength.  Students will learn basic tumbling skills such as cartwheels, round offs, walk-overs, etc.  Pom class also teaches stunt skills and partner work.  This class is a great start to prepare anyone interested in joining a cheerleading or dance team.

Modern

Modern is a dance form developed in the early 20th century that focuses on self expression.  Modern dance is a more relaxed style of dance, in which choreographers use emotions and moods to design their own steps.  It has a deliberate use of gravity and spacing.
